The Cashflow Quadrant: Which Quadrant Are You In Now?

31st July 2009

In June of 2007 I had just completed reading about the Cashflow Quadrant by Robert Kiyosaki. I'm sure most of you have heard of Rich Dad Poor Dad and Mr. Kiyosaki is the author of both Rich Dad Poor Dad and Cashflow Quadrant, as well as many other financial education books. I found his theory of the cashflow quadrant quite intriguing because for the first time, there was an explanation of the wealth divide in a graphic format. Now I don't about you but I tend to remember pictures better. This shaped my financial plan for myself and where I wanted to go over the next ten years and the graphic helps me see my progress. So here is where I'm at.

Personal Finance Beginning of 2008 I had registered my company which includes two partners, family members to be precise. We opened a business bank account and got the paperwork sorted out with our accounting firm. So I was now into part-time business while I was employed full-time as an IT specialist. In comes recession, end of 2008 and the firm I was employed at announces that they would be offering pay packages to those that want to leave as job cuts were inevitable for them. Enter 2009, I put in my application and February I officially become unemployed. However, I have my own business ambitions that I had actually been researching from as far back as 2005 and took action in 2008 when I felt it was time. I was unhappy in my job in any case. So in graphic format and according to the cashflow quadrant, the green shows the transition and steps I have taken thus far.

Although I am still on the left side of the quadrant which according to Robert is not the ultimate, I am now an S, therefore I am one step away from getting on the right side, which is the ultimate side as Mr. Kiyosaki describes in his book, The Cashflow Quadrant.

Kevin's Current Quadrant Move

So I have successfully moved from being an employee or having a job, to being self-employed which is owning a job. My journey is only just beginning as I intend to get to the I or investor in the quadrant and have money work for me.

If you haven't yet read the book, get it at Amazon by clicking the image below.
